Applications To The Guardianship Division of NCAT

When a person faces cognitive impairment it may be necessary to protect their interests by bringing an application to the Guardianship Division of NCAT.

The typical applications are: –

  • an application for a guardianship order
  • a request to review a guardianship order
  • an application for a financial management order
  • an application to review or revoke a financial management order
  • etc.

Sometimes it is necessary to get help from a lawyer to prepare the application (and the evidence in support) given the complexity of the facts. It is not necessary to obtain permission from the tribunal to allow a lawyer to assist with the preparation of the documents.

If a party wants a lawyer to appear at the tribunal then permission must be obtained before that can take place.

Contact us if you need help preparing the paperwork for an application to the guardianship division of NCAT. We can also seek leave to appear at a hearing if the matter is complex.
