Getting Rid of Assets - Stop Them (Mareva Orders)

Sometimes evidence comes to light that your judgement will be frustrated because the defendant has or intends to get rid of assets.

When that happens you need to act quickly otherwise you may end up having a pyrrhic victory because there is no money to satisfy a judgement. This can happen when a defendant knows that proceedings are likely (or have taken place) and steps were taken to get rid of assets.

A Mareva order, if granted, will stop the defendant from dealing with his or her assets and in so doing can offer the plaintiff a degree of comfort and protection.
