Who Can Bring An Oppression Suit?

When a shareholder in a company is affected by unfair conduct it may be possible to bring an oppression suit. Usually the remedy is not available to majority shareholders who can typically take steps to end the oppression. 

Generally, an oppression suit can be brought by person including: -

  • a member of the company;
  • someone removed as a shareholder due to unfair conduct; 
  •  etc. 

Sometimes the question of who can bring an oppression suit is not simply answered such as when the oppressive conduct took place before the person became a member.
